Time to chillax // HKSBP 2012

Assalamualaikum w.b.t
Peace and blessings upon you.

I am exhausted. My back is aching. I need rest, lots and lots of rest. But on top of that, I'm contempt.
I can finally start my holiday, alhamdulillah :) I have things to do, but I believe I am deserving of a few days of rest. I'm going to put my feet up, let my hair down, and spoil myself. No shame. All work and no play makes Jack a dead boy.

I just got home form Perak last night. Hari Kecemerlangan Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Ke-39 that was held at Sekolah Tuanku Abdul Rahman (STAR), Ipoh is finally over. After sleeping on hostel beds for so long, I can finally sleep on my own bed. No more blinding pendaflour lights to disturb my sleep. Now I return to sleeping under the stars. Glow in the dark stars, that is. So, back to the debate. Our team won one out of three battles in the preliminary round. We didn't make it to the next round, but we tried our best.

The first battle was against SM Sains Tun Syed Sheh Shahabuddin (SMSTSSS) with the motion: This House Would Ban Online Anonymity. We were the Government.

The 2nd battle was against Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Kajang (SMAPK) with the motion: The House Would Not Allow Saffee Sali to Play in The Indonesian League. We were the opposition. Getting the motion was like getting a big pail of "WTH?!" poured onto our heads. Yeah, like that.

The 3rd battle, the one which we actually won, was against Sekolah Berasrama Pernuh Integrasi Rawang (SEPINTAR), with the motion: The Influx of Foreign Students Is A Boon To The Education System. We were the opposition. I'm glad to say I was announced best speaker for this battle, but I'm nothing without my team, and there are a lot of other debaters way better than me.

Team, Syamimi, Sharvind and especially Faizal, we did a great job. Let us take the experience and learn from it. Let us become better debaters. Looking forward to working with you guys again.

The Bahas Bahasa Melayu team also won one out of three battles, and Aliff Syukri was announced best speaker. Congratulations, Aliff. Can't wait to hear more of your extravagant analogies.

Missing: Faizal and Sharvind
Dropping out of the competition early left us a lot of time to hang out, which I really enjoyed. Othe that the debate battles, we had to attend a few ceremonies, the most important one being the dinner at the castle.

Waiting for the bus.

35 buses all.

Feeling like royalty.

Eager faces

Real flowers.

Nice :3

Look at all the people!

Marvelous food.

All in all, I enjoyed myself. Looking forward to next year's HK Debate, if I'm able to go, insyaAllah.

With the debate over, I can now focus on the Public Speaking Competition. A lot more improvement needs to be done, before I am ready to take the stage at nationals. I haven't rehearsed my text for so long :O *headshot*. But that doesn't matter because I have to adjust my text anyway. I have to find ways to make it more interesting. Hmm, let's hope I can think of something.

I bought this the other day hoping that it will come in handy. Haven't finish reading it, but so far I'm finding it quite helpful. InsyaAllah, I will try my best during nationals.

Upon reaching home, tired at 12.30am in the morning, I was surprised with a paper bag on my desk in my room. A note was clipped onto the bag. The note read:

To Adik Sofia,
Congratulations, Adik.
Later, we can add on more charms over the years
to commemorate happy and wonderful times.
Love, Mama and Daddy.

Inside the bag was a Pandora charm bracelet. A charm bracelet! something I wanted for so long! Currently there are three charms on it. Two of which are made of glass, one in green and the other red. The other charm is in the shape of a four-leaved clover, the symbol of luck. For everything that I wish to pursue. Although I don't believe in luck, I believe in Qada' and Qadar, I still appreciate my parent's thoughtfulness. It's just a symbol. In everything I do, I must do my best, and leave the rest to Allah. It's the cycle of ikhtiar and tawakkal :)

My parents wanted to put a charm that said "16", but it wasn;'t pretty enough. They tried to find something that symbolized talking, like a microphone or something, because of my involvement in debate and public speaking, but they didn't have one. Never the less, I can't wait to watch my collection of charms grow within time. It adds the sentimental value to it. Thank you, mama and daddy <3

Enough about me, let's talk about my brother who is now officially a university student! *Cue trumpet sound fx*. He is in University Malaya, doing a foundation in science. I hope Allah ease your affairs in your studies, insyaAllah. Study hard, have fun :) Don't forget to pray for me in my studies too.

So, I guess that's it. I'll continue doing the first thing on my agenda for this holiday, which is sleep, sleep and sleep! Heavenly, isn't it? Blissful, simply blissful <3

Assalamualaikum... :)

Nationals, here I come.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t

So, I'm at home again, just for a few hours, again. Currently listening to bands on YouTube, need to find new stuff to hear. :P

2-week + 1 day long exams in school right now. Oh Lord have mercy >__<

In my last post, I forgot to tell you guys that my hamster has babies! :D wheee!! They're so tiny *__* They've escaped from their cage a couple of times already, those little rascals. Last time one of them escaped, it went missing for 2 days. When my family found it running around the living room, my dad had to capture it using a small fish net, Hahaha! They're still unnamed, I can't even bother to name them anymore :P

So guess what! I qualified for the national level of the public speaking competition this year! Alhamdulillah :D  I was holding back tears when they announced the 1st runner up, because I thought I didn't get a placing. My jaw dropped when my name was announced as the champion, mostly because I was confident that I didn't win. I wasn't even sure if I'd get a placing :O Nationals will be held in August. The competition's gonna be tough x___x but there's ample time to prepare. I hope I'll be able to do the best, insyaAllah. It's going to be held in Sabah (or maybe Putrajaya according the what the teacher said yesterday). So let's just see how it goes. :)

So I guess that's just it. I'm gonna continue putting songs in my mp3 now :)
Adios, salam sejahtera :)
